August Books

This book was full of hilarious essays about motherhood - one of my favorite types of books :)

This memoir is about an associate beauty editor who battled with prescription drug addiction.  I couldn't put it down but also hate that her road to recovery was so difficult.

This book is the follow-up to Class Mom and I loved it just as much.  I figured with the start of a new school year a funny book about school politics would be perfect.  I would totally be friends with the main character in real life.

The author spent many years documenting the lives of three women and their stories are compelling.  I loved reading about three very different people and believe that although very different I could relate to each of the women at certain points in their story.

Back To School!

Ava and I went back to school this month and boy has it been an exhausting few weeks.  She is loving her teacher and classmates and I know it will be a great year in second grade.

July Books

This book is a true story about a con artist who poses as a German heiress.  I felt terribly sorry for the Vanity Fair photo editor who befriended her and ended up getting scammed but it was such an interesting story.  It is accurately described on Amazon as "Sex and the City meets Catch Me if You Can".

This memoir is about a Jehovah's Witness who moves to China to share her message.  She eventually leaves the religion without an education or the support of her family.

I read all 3 books in the Peachtree Bluff Series this month.  I love southern fiction and this series is about 3 daughters and their mother, which is something I relate to.  The plot includes the perfect amount of southern charm, drama and love.

Written by a female comedy writer,  this book was all about the author's journey working and writing for popular television shows, comedians and other famous people.  I love reading about women succeeding in male dominated professions and it was very interesting and inspiring.

Indiana Summer Trip

We loaded up the car and made the trip to Indiana again this month.  We went to Indiana Beach, saw the new Lion King, went out on Lake Manitou, and spent a lot of time swimming and relaxing on Grandma and Papa's farm.  Since we have been back Ava has told me quite a few times that she is moving to Indiana when she is old enough.  She is concerned about driving alone so I told her she better just stay here with me forever :)

Summer Fun

Last week was full of adventure for Ava!  She tried paddle boarding and climbed rock walls - both for the first time and with no hesitation.  We have loved watching her confidence grow over the past few months and are so proud of her for trying new things!
