May + June Books

My favorite book I read recently is High Achiever.  It is a memoir about a woman's addiction to opiates and the double life she leads as the girlfriend of a police officer.  It was interesting and inspiring!

I love reading about celebrity interviews but this book was especially interesting because before providing the transcript of the interview Stern shares what he was going through in his own life at this point.

This story is told by the chief medical correspondent with ABC News and is about the impact suicide has on a family.  Her ex-husband and father of her 2 children committed suicide and as a mental health professional I appreciate the insight she shared and hope her story helps to minimize the shame and stigma of mental illness.

This was a hilarious book about mom life and was full of relatable stories. I definitely recommend it!

This was another book filled with funny essays detailing real life stories.  She also has "I Ain't Doing It" videos that are equally entertaining :)

Boat Days

Last weekend we took the boat out in the evening and went somewhere new to get away from a storm.  We avoided the storm and were treated to the prettiest sunset/sky ever.  Yesterday when we took the boat out again we went back to this stop to check on some turtle nests that were there.  No change in the turtle nests but we had a great family day and saw so many dolphins!

Downs Family Visits Florida!

Sara, Lucy and Micah came to Florida for 4 days earlier this week and we had the best time!  We spent most of our days in the pool, went on the boat one day, and did Game Time and Chick Fil A one morning.  It was the best week and we are so appreciative they came to see us :)

Peace Out, First Grade

The end of the school year was busy as usual!  Ava earned the Positive Behavior Water Party and had a blast on the water slides.  I organized a career day event and Matt came to present.  Later that same day Ava attended the 1st grade award ceremony where she received recognition for All A's.  We are so proud of her hard work this school year and have loved watching her confidence grow.  Speaking of confidence, this week she is at Summit Sports Camp and is having a blast!  When I drop her off each day she is happy, outgoing and talks about camp non-stop at night.  We are so proud!
